Con grande sorpresa dei suoi fan, Lady Gaga ha pubblicato un nuovo brano su Spotify e le altre piattaforme digitati, non esattamente inedito, ma comunque una canzone mai rilasciata ufficialmente.
Si tratta di Brooklyn Nights, canzone che già circolava in Internet nel 2014, quando sembrava che fosse in procinto di essere rilasciato un secondo volume dell’album ARTPOP con brani inediti. Quella sfortunata parentesi discografica, non apprezzata né dalla critica né dal pubblico, è stata poi chiusa senza un secondo album a completarla.
Ora però, decisamente a sorpresa, la cantante ha pubblicato su diverse piattaforme digitali proprio Brooklyn Nights, alla cui produzione ha lavorato DJ White Shadow.
A fare notizia non è tanto l’arrivo su canali ufficiali del brano, quanto il nome usato dalla cantante per lanciarlo: al posto del consueto nome d’arte Lady Gaga, la canzone è apparsa sotto quello di battesimo, Stefani Germanotta. Che la popstar abbia cambiato idea rispetto alle recenti dichiarazioni in cui sosteneva che non avrebbe usato il suo nome di battesimo nei titoli di coda del film È nata una stella, in cui recita accanto all’attore e regista Bradley Cooper?
Lady Gaga non ha commentato l’uscita del brano, tanto meno la scelta di pubblicarlo usando il suo vero nome. Di sicuro negli ultimi due anni, con la pubblicazione dell’album Joanne che prende il titolo dal nome di una zia morta di lupus a 19 anni, Gaga ha messo molto di se stessa e della sua storia familiare al centro della sua musica. Più di tutte le precedenti, Joanne è stata l’era discografica che le ha permesso di usare meno maschere possibili, di fare una musica scevra di orpelli inutili, con canzoni molto suonate e capaci di dare risalto alle sue doti vocali. Insomma, si è messa chiaramente a nudo molto più che con le provocazioni a tutti i costi inseguite negli anni precedenti. Dal palco del concerto al Forum di Assago lo scorso gennaio urlò proprio “il mio nome è Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta” dopo aver parlato della storia della sua famiglia di immigrati italoamericani. Non dovrebbe stupire, dunque, questa scelta insolita di pubblicare un brano col proprio nome.
